Sept 13, 2024 – In race 2 on Friday at Woodbine race course, North Warden assumed command from the start as jockey Sahin Civaci took him straight from the break immediately to the front of the 6-horse field going 1 1/16miles on the all-weather track.
Coming across from the outside gate to the rail uncontested, Civaci slowed the race down and set a soft pace into the first turn. No one challenged him so Civaci continued to gallop his mount slowly down the backstretch. The bid to catch the leader only came round the final turn.
Patrolman started coming at the 330 yard marker and Civaci asked North Warden with urgency to hold onto the lead. The winner had just enough left late fend off the pursuit, cross the wire first by less than a half length, and secure his second consecutive victory for the Canuck Racing Club.
