June 14, 2026 – Canuck Racing Club’s Twentytwo Soles delivered a determined and encouraging win at Woodbine on Sunday, stepping up into $40,000 claiming company in race 7 and producing the strongest performance of his career.
The gelding entered the race as an overlooked contender in a competitive field. Several of the more public runners brought stronger paper credentials, including Lean Music Machine, Wild Card, and Egbert Who. Twentytwo Soles, by contrast, came in with lower average speed figures and less obvious recent form than many of his rivals.
Under Fraser Aebly, Twentytwo Soles stayed engaged, travelled with more purpose, and fought bravely through a demanding stretch drive. Rather than needing to be brilliant early, he was asked to build into the race, hold his position, and show conviction when the real running began.
He answered. In the stretch, Twentytwo Soles battled up the inside, stayed brave in tight quarters, and continued fighting all the way to the wire.
βTwentytwo Soles ran a very game race, fought up the inside space and even got in tight and got bumped at the wire,β said trainer Kevin Attard afterward. βHe battled hard. It was good to see him turn in that effort because he has worked very well all spring.β
Aebly rode him like a horse who belonged in that race, and Twentytwo Soles responded like one. The performance earned Twentytwo Soles a career-high 88 eSpeed.
Levelling up in class in three consecutive starts, it appeared a meaningful and promising step for Twentytwo Soles : a tougher class test, a braver finish, a career-best figure, and a second career victory earned through genuine fight. He stepped up.
