Aug 12, 2025 – The racing spotlight in North America will point north to Woodbine at 5:34 p.m. ET Aug. 16 for the $1 million King’s Plate, the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown and the continent’s oldest Thoroughbred horse race.
Canuck Racing Club’s 3-year-old colt Dewolf is one of three King’s Plate hopefuls trained by Kevin Attard, a winner of two of the last three editions of the race with Moira (2022) and Caitlinhergrtness (2024). Dewolf was a stakes winner on the grass as a 2-year-old and multiple stakes-placed in two-turn races on the all-weather surface last November.

According to America’s Best Racing “The Silent Name progeny is eligible to take a step forward in his third start of the year after an extended layoff, but will need to not only regain his top form in the King’s Plate but better his best efforts from a year ago to be a win candidate.
Dewolf picks up the services of 2024 Eclipse Award winning jockey Flavien Prat, winner of the 2019 Plate and a top-three finish is not out of the question. Co-owners X-Men Racing, Madaket Stables, and SF Racing won the King’s Plate in 2022 with Moira.”
