June 12, 2025 – Canuck Racing Club’s 3-year-old Ontario-bred filly Hoodless after dominated gate to wire over six furlongs in her impressive maiden win under jockey Pietro Moran at Woodbine on May 10, 2025. On Thursday in the fourth event on Wooodbine’s race card, she returned yet again under Moran to step up in class and take on five other proven winners going six furlongs on the all weather track for a share of a $63,800 purse.

Hoodless broke well from gate 4 and exchanged a bump at the start before Pietro Moran settled her behind the leaders. The duo stalked from the outside heading into the turn and then Woodbine’s leading jockey positioned his mount five wide coming out of the bend. It looked like Jose Campos on frontrunner Bedtime had opted for a solid strategy by going straight to the front from the gate seemingly leaving enough of a lead to hold until the finish line. However, Moran urged Hoodless at the top of the stretch and she was game. Near the 70-yard marker, Hoodless was about even with jockey Fraser Aebly and Saratoga Holiday was just getting set to edge past her. Then in just the final 50 yards, Hoodless proved why inches and timing matter on the race track, as she and Moran gobbled up the ground and powered from third to first in just eight strides to win by a length.

As noted by veteran track announcer Robert Geller, Canuck Racing Club “just keeps on bringing winners”. The filly’s second consecutive victory brings her record to 2-1-0 in four career starts. The win helped push gross earning by horses owned/co-owned by the club to just over $1 million in a little more than two racing seasons: a remarkable tally.
