Sinclairity delivers a timely kick in the stretch to notch fourth win

Jun 1, 2026 – Canuck Racing Club’s Sinclairity added another strong result to her consistent record yesterday at Woodbine, winning race 6, a $114,600 allowance optional claiming event for fillies and mares at six furlongs on the all-weather track.

Trained by Sovereign award-winner Kevin Attard, the 5-year-old bay mare was not the consensus pick in this tactical sprint against proven winners and committed pace players. Most of the conversation understandably centered on the pace. Rivals Haley’s Honor, Whiskey N Ice, and Give Me the Boots all had enough natural speed to make this a tactical race early and Algoma Stakes winner Speedy Freeze was a sneaky play to beat this field. Having registered a career high 103 eSpeed, Florida-bred shipper Grade A drew plenty of attention as well and went off as the favourite at 3.30-1 favourite. Sinclairity, meanwhile, appeared to be an after thought.

The break was clean, and the pace horses did what we predicted they would do. Whiskey N Ice, Give Me the Boots, and Haley’s Honor all moved forward early, with Whiskey N Ice taking command inside through an opening quarter in 22.04 while Give Me the Boots pressed just to her outside. As anticipated, Pietro had choices and did not chase that pace. He let Sinclairity settle into stride, kept her covered near the inside, and allowed the early speed to sort itself out in front of him. She was positioned just behind the main pace players, fifth after the opening quarter and then fourth by the half-mile point, as the race began to tighten through a demanding 44.85 half.

The turn was the key part of the race. Jockey David Moran made the first meaningful move on Grade A, asking her to advance into third before the turn and then into second as the field approached the stretch. His son Pietro Moran was more patient with Sinclairity. He waited until she rounded into the turn, then began to wind her up, shifting her off the rail, passing a tiring rival, and preparing to angle out for her run.

At the top of the lane, Grade A had first run and moved into position to challenge, while Sinclairity was set down wider, swinging six wide and beginning to build momentum under strong urging.

Inside the final furlong, the race became a battle between pace pressers and closers. Grade A and Sinclairity went after the leaders, caught the fading pace at roughly the 200-yard mark, and were head-to-head inside the final stages. But from there, Sinclairity kept finding more, gaining on Grade A with each stride.

The Canuck Racing Club mare struck the lead outside the sixteenth pole, and edged clear late to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:11.14.

Sinclairity earned a career-high 89 eSpeed, and track announcer Robert Geller complimented her “very nice strike rate” after she secured her fourth win to accompany four seconds from 12 career starts.

Purchased for $19,000 USD, Sinclairity upped her purse earnings to $204,400 with the victory.
