Oct 6, 2023 – Fridays are a quieter day at Woodbine than weekends, but on Friday there was certainly action in race 8 as Canuck Racing Club’s filly Vandoo took on the boys yet again and battled 8 rivals over the course of 6 furlongs in the dirt.

This was an open race featuring a mix of fillies, geldings, and a colt. In the end, Vandoo (bought for $22K cdn) was beaten by an Ontario-bred gelding (bought for $23K USD, 1st place) and edged by a Virginia-bred filly (bought as a yearling for $30K USD, 2nd place). Canuck Racing Club’s Ontario-bred filly beat the rest of the field which included three Ontario-bred geldings, a Kentucky-bred filly, a Kentucky-bred gelding, and an Florida-bred colt.

Canuck Racing Club has now finished in the money an enviable 8 times out of 10 starts. That impressive record is further bolstered when you consider that gelding EnjoytheSilent’s only off the board finish came in an incredibly entertaining King’s Plate day that netted Canuck Racing Club members to check off another item on every Canadian thoroughbred owners’ bucket list.
