Sept 23, 2023 – The last day of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale saw fiercely competitive bidding for Hip 4037, a magnificent and powerful looking dark bay colt by Silent Name out of Holy Cargo. When the hammer finally fell, the Ontario-bred was owned in equal parts by Canuck Racing Club, X-Men Racing, Madaket Stables, and SF Racing.

This partnership is a significant milestone in the young history of the Canuck Racing Club in that it pairs the club with iconic thoroughbred industry owners and three of the principals in the Avengers: a super syndicate of some of the most successful and powerful owners in the game.

Headed by billionaire and respected horsemen Sol Kumin, Madaket Stables is a Multiple Graded Stakes and Kentucky Derby winning owner. Having won the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Kentucky Derby, and the Haskell, SF Racing is run by international heavyweight horsemen, industry legends, and fellow Avengers Tom Ryan and Gavin Murphy.

The colt’s price of $185,000 USD set the record as the highest price ever paid for a yearling on the final day in the 80-year history of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. It was Canuck Racing Club’s second purchase at the 2023 sale after having acquired a Point of Entry filly earlier in the week.
